The Snowdonia National Park covers 823 square miles of beautiful countryside in North Wales, at the heart of which is the village of Capel Curig. The village offers good facilities including cafes, pubs and hotels serving bar meals (within a short walk of the cottage) and also has a well stocked grocery shop.
The historic village of Betws-y-Coed, just four miles from Capel Curig, is widely regarded as the 'gateway to Snowdonia'. It has a wide range of shops, restaurants and cafes supplying everything you need for a stress-free Snowdonia holiday.
Built in 1928 by the manager of the local quarry who lived in one of the nearby houses, O.T.'s Loft (or Lloft O.T. in Welsh) was originally a garage and workshop. The ground floor housed the quarry truck while upstairs was used as a workshop by a local joiner named O.T. Williams. One of the quarry manager's children, who still lives locally, recalls being a regular visitor to the workshop as a small child, learning to count and sing while sitting on the workbench at "lloft O.T.".
